Three secondees in Sheffield at the same time.
A short account by Swapna (ESR7) of her successful short secondment to Sheffield in December 2018.
For my secondment, I had the chance to work with Prof. Endre Kiss-Toth´s group in Department of Infection, Immunity & Cardiovascular Disease at Sheffield University. In three weeks I was able to generate some primary data to be continued back in Munich with the generous help of Laura (ESR3) and Chiara (ESR13). It was a pleasant change to conduct few experiments in our collaborators group and to see how things work in a different lab. The group is highly motivated and enthusiastic in sharing ideas and helping each other. Before going there I always thought three weeks are too short to start something new, but in the end everything was well organised and this increased my productivity. This secondment has helped me to work again in an academic university environment that is different to a research institute. Overall, it was great experience in working with excellent researchers at Sheffield University and looking forward to meet everyone for the next training workshop in Sheffield (March 2019).
